How Do I Open Netscape?

In this lesson, we'll look at how to start-up the browser, Netscape Navigator.

If connecting from home, "dial in" through Pegasus or Internet Service Provider (ISP) first. If unsure how to do this, see Remote Access tutorial on this CD-ROM.

From the desktop of your computer, locate the icon for Netscape and double-click it. After a brief pause, the Netscape logo will appear, and then the "home" page will load. Later, we will see how to change the page that loads when you launch Netscape.

At some point, you might see a box that says "Unable to Create A Socket Connection." This means that there is a problem with your Internet connection. If this happens, check your network cable or modem cable and telephone line.

Also make sure that you've dialed in to Pegasus (or another ISP).

We have launched Netscape, and we're ready for action. But that's in the next demo.
